‘Tennis Elbow’ is a type of tendonitis that causes pain in the elbow and down the forearm due to swelling of the tendon tissue bands that connect the muscles of your forearm to the bone.
It’s not just tennis that can create tendonitis in the elbow but any repetitive movement that requires grip and clenching of the thumb and fingers, such as lifting, painting, racquet sports and gardening just to name a few.
Symptoms include pain and tenderness around the elbow when
– opening jars / door handles
– raising your arm and wrist
Tennis elbow can be treated by
– Icing – Regular massage to release pressure in the tendons
– Strapping to take strain off the tendons
– Gentle stretching
